Abstract:

This study aimed to revise the death reflection scale (DRS) with 523 Chinese college students. The explorative factor analysis showed that the revised DRS included four dimensions: embodiment of life values, changes of life attitudes, footprints of life existence, and use of life time. Fifteen items were contained in the scale, with a cumulative variance explanation rate of 50.43%. The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the hypothesized 4–factor model. The Cronbach  of this scale was 0.83, and the test-retest stability coefficient was 0.75. The criterion related validity was sound as well. Thus, the revised DRS has acceptable psychometric properties and can be used as a good instrument to measure the positive death awareness of Chinese college students.
