The Influence of Proactive Personality on College Students' Entrepreneurial Intention: A Moderated Mediation Model

Abstract:

The current study aimed to explore the relationship between proactive personality and college students' entrepreneurial intention, as well as its internal mechanism the mediating role of entrepreneurial psychological capital and moderating role of gender. A total of 898 college students completed the Proactive Personality Scale, Entrepreneurial Capital Scale and Entrepreneurial Intention Scale. Results: Proactive personality was positively correlated with entrepreneurial psychological capital and entrepreneurial intention; and there was a significant positive correlation between entrepreneurial psychological capital and entrepreneurial intention; Entrepreneurial psychological capital has a partial mediating effect between proactive personality and entrepreneurial intention; The moderating role of gender in the relationship between entrepreneurial psychological and entrepreneurial intention was significant, specifically, females' entrepreneurial intention increases significantly while males' increases more significantly. The results enrich the research on the influencing factors of entrepreneurial intention and the understanding of the potential mechanism.
