How Career Adaptability Influences Career Success: A Moderated Mediation Analysis

Abstract: This study aimed at exploring the mechanism of learning and gender difference underlying the relationship between career adaptability and career success. A valid sample of 165 MBA students was recruited to make a moderated mediation analysis using Mplus. (1)Career adaptability was found to have positive correlations with career success and learning orientation, and learning orientation also correlated positively with career success. (2)Learning orientation partially mediated the influence of career adaptability on career success. (3)Gender moderated the indirect effect of career adaptability on career success via learning orientation, and also acted as a moderator in the path from career adaptability to learning orientation. Gender difference served as a theoretical boundary about the intervening mechanism of learning orientation underlying the effects of career adaptability.
