Development of the Entrepreneurial Mental Models Questionnaire

Abstract: We developed the entrepreneurial mental models questionnaire(EMMQ) for college students and evaluated its reliability and validity. Based on literature analysis and interview, the dimension of EMMQ was determined and the items were collected. Six hundred and thirty college students were tested for the first time, and the data was analyzed using item analysis, exploratory factorial analysis. Then 1026 college students were formally tested, and the data was analyzed using confirmatory factorial analysis, and the test of reliability and validity. The results showed that the EMMQ consisted of three factors, which were entrepreneurial cognitive system, entrepreneurial motivation system and entrepreneurial behavior intention. Confirmatory factorial analysis have verified that the three dimensional model fitted well. The internal consistency reliability, split half reliability and the criterion related validity were reached to a significant level. The results of construct validity and reliability analysis showed that the EMMQ had reached the psychometric standard, and can be used as a measurement tool for college students entrepreneurial mental models.
